Kalkan is by far the prettiest of the small coastal resorts. Kalkan is a very smart and exclusive resort with a multitude of restaurant to choose from. Traditional Turkish cuisine and definetly no 'Fish and chips' to be found. Kalkan has been described as the Tuscany of Turkey boasting a beautiful harbour and quaint shops scattered along winding little roads. Kalkan is very upmarket place within easy access to numerous historical sights. Kalkan has a small pebbly beach but not too far away is beautiful Patara beach and Kaputus beach. Another local attraction is Saklikent Gorge which is a must and Tlos where you can experience breathtaking mountain scenery where the ancient tombs are built into the mountainside.
Lycia this is one of the most scenic regions of Turkeys Mediterranean coast with the towering Taurus Mountains plunging straight into the sea. A rugged coastline of rocks and sea caves, with rock tombs built high into the mountains. The coast road was built in 1988 before that this area was pretty much isolated. One of the most popular places of interest is the ancient sunken city of Kekova which is accessible only by water. The beautiful harbour reminds you of a postcard. To get there tours start in Kas which is a 25 minute drive from Kalkan.
