Muang On Cave
Located on the top of a limestone hill (approx. 900 meters high). A long 187 steps staircase rewards with a scenic view over the valley, and a steep climb down of 132 steps leads to a number of caverns filled with impressive stalagmites and stalactites. All caves host a different scenario inside and each has his own unique entry. The cave is lighted and kerosene lamps are on standby in case of an electrical blackout. There is a strange limestone formation that was once mistaken for the skeleton of a dinosaur. The most breathtaking is the steeple tall sparkling stalagmite, which also can be seen through a gap as big as a plane window along the stairway on the upper level. A corner of the cave where water spouts drops from the host of stalactites is also a wonder, especially so in the wet season when continuous gushes offer a vision of an underground waterfall. In one cavern is a large Buddha image. This cave is situated at San Kamphaeng near the Hot Springs.
Huai Mae On Dam
Ban Huay Kaew village
To reach the village one has to climb a winding, steep road to the top of the mountain. Before reaching Ban Huay Kaew village at the right hand side is a lake by fish farms, duck farms and fishing huts, which together with the mountain views offer amazing photographical opportunities. Descending, the smooth drive down to the village, at both sides of the road are commecial "gardens" where the locals sell mature trees and ornamental conifer trees, known as " Ton Son Mangkorn".
Teen Tok Royal Project
Teen Tok Royal Project is a project for native Thai, where expert advice is on tap to help farmers from the hill villages produce top quality coffee beans, tea, dragon fruit and an array of vegetables, including mushrooms and other commercially viable flowers and ferns; The project also buys the end product from the farmer. The experts are working on a grove of Vanilla bean vines and introducing the growing of passion fruit. With 350 families or approx. 1200 people involved it is considered to be a middle-sized project.
Mae Lai Village
About 2 kilometers from the Teen Tok Royal Project a turn of to the left leads to Mae Lai Village, where a trail seldom visited by outsiders hosts an adventurous hike. A narrow concrete road of 2.7 ilometers will take you to the fringe of this village. The villagers mainly depend as their main stable income on the Thai tea leaf "Miang"
Mae Kam Pong waterfall
A short trek to Mae Kam Pong 7 cascading waterfalls is recommended. Ascend and descend takes about 2 hours or even longer if one is intensively attracted to the flora and fauna
Mae Kam Pong village
Mae Kam Pong village is located at apprx. 48 kilometers from Chiang Mai and its zones Mae Kam Pong Nok (inner), Ma Kam Pong Khrang (central) and Mae Kam Pong Nai (outer) are collective highlights. They are a perfect destination to experience the unspoiled beauty of nature and Chiang Mai’s picturesque countryside. A stop will be made at a local market. The local villagers are very friendly; they will give their visitors a glimpse at their unique lifestyle while nobody will escape the unique and overwhelming scenery. Mae Kam Pong village is 1,300 meters above sea level with an average temperature of 10-18 C throughout the year. Recommended is walk through the inflorescence and evergreen community forest, sheltering surrounding watershed, multiple streams flowing over waterfalls, rocky landscape and fertile soil where the villagers grow tea and coffee. Observe how they preserve their forest and the way they live in harmony with nature. Walk around the village to witness the fermented tea leaves process, known as "Pa Miang" and take a look at their hand made products like the therapeutic pillows of Khun Wonwimol Bell. Mae Kam Pong is a good example for the King’s self sufficient economy theory. Another unique experience would be to prepare a picnic basket, having your lunch at a waterfall or to have a lunch in the village as we recommend the village specialist "Yam Bai Miang", an herb salad and omelet cooked on banana leaf tops. Admire garden flowers like the ground orchid commonly known as "Ern Din", as their blossoms are the regions pride. They can be seen in gardens and backyards of almost each home, dominating the original "Dok Kam Pong" flower. Mae Kam Pong in Chiang Mai Province is among the villages that have developed hydropower generation by a special Governments Project.

The Sankamphaeng Hot Springs (10 Bt. entrance) and the Roong Arun Hot Springs Resort (20 Bt. entrance) have geysers, mineral baths and gardens that make a pleasant setting for relaxation. Both offer accommodation, but the privately run Roong Arun Hot Springs has more the feeling of a resort. The road past the hot springs leads to Ban Mae Pong, from where you may go to Doi Saket. Numerous narrow lanes make the route confusing, however. Return via H1317 and take RI147 east to visit Wat Pa Tung.

Souvenirs fill the small shops that line both sides of the high street, which at times becomes choked with buses full of Thai tourists. Traditionally the umbrellas are made in the cool spaces beneath the raised houses, with households sometimes specialising in different parts of the process. This is best seen along the lanes off the north end of the high street. The Umbrella Making Centre or The Sa Paper & Umbrella Handicraft Centre provide convenient one-stop looks at the entire process.
