Ban Pa Hiang

Just a nice little rural village, far enough from town and close enough to enjoy city life.

Sankamphaeng

In the Lanna period, Sankamphaeng was famous for its pottery kilns; today modern kilns operate nearby. The small market town is prosperous and there are several handicraft shops. To the hot springs (18km). Bosang Festival: (Third weekend of January) - Hundreds of pretty local girls hold umbrellas in a very colorful parade and beauty pageant. The festival is as much for local people as for visitors.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is the city of beauty, warm hospitality and good manners; a city of religion & ancient Buddhist temples and the center of Thai arts and handicrafts. Over 700 years culture is rooted so deeply that it has its own dialect, architecture, costumes, dances and even its own cuisine. Though modernization crept into this faraway region, Chiang Mai retains its natural charm & old culture.
History is a boon to tourists who can marvel at the archeological and historical artifacts that burst out of the countryside. Whether you want it or not, you will have to immerse yourself in history, but also in a smoking hot nightlife, as Chiang Mai has a bit of everything. In day time you will want to take a walking tour to some of the more than 300 Buddhist temples, all of which are at least 500 years old. The most interesting ruins in the region are called Wiang Kum Kham; they are from a lively city, which washed out in a flood 700 years ago.
Don't forget the elephant show and see how an elephant will paint, play soccer and basketball, or take an elephant-ride into the jungle. White water rafting is another popular activity, as is rock climbing. Chiang Mai is also known for its amazing golf courses and well-tended tennis courts.
If you are into shopping, Chiang Mai has one of the most exciting night-time bazaars of Thailand, where you can get great deals on silk and traditional hand made crafts. If you don’t feel like hiking or walking, you can enjoy a boat trip up and down the Ping River.
The city is also known for gourmet meals at affordable prices, with dozens of restaurants in the city, almost all of them are world class.
Chiang Mai is a gay friendly town if you know where to look for it! Simon Cabaret hosts a spectacular drag show that will appeal even you!
This guide gives an idea where to start looking for your adventures. If you have a chance to visit this tourist paradise, you will understand why people call it "The Rose of the North". We just can’t wait for you to come visit - we know you will have as good a time as we do!
