Located in the Ciutat Vella district, San Sebastiŕ is the beach most closest to Barcelona city on the Eastern end of the coastline. Together with Barceloneta, it is the oldest and most traditional, with sporting clubs of great relevance in the city for their sea-related activities. Sant Sebastiŕ is also one of the longest stretches of beach, measuring approximately 1,100 m.
Situated between the ocean and the mountains, thanks to its warm climate and innumerable sunny days, Barcelona is the ideal city in which to spend your vacation. Visitors may enjoy the sun on more than 5 kilometers of beaches, which are only 10 minutes from the center by metro or bus, or take a leisurely bicycle ride on more than 100 kilometers of specially designed bike routes.
Barcelona has a typical Mediterranean climate. The winter is relativly humid but mild and the summer is dry. The rainy seasons are the once in between, autumn and spring. The distinguishing marks of this climate are the 3 to 5 months of the dry summer, which is caused by the sinking air of the subtropical highs. There are very few days of extreme temperature, heat or cold, and that`s why the average of the minimum and the maximum in Barcelona is temperate, typical for the Mediterranean mild climate.
The architectural lover may stroll through Barcelona's streets discovering here and there testimonials of many different architectural styles: Roman ruins, romanesque churches, gothic churches such as the cathedral, modern buildings and monuments such as Casa Batlló and La Sagrada Familia, and of course, more modern buildings.
The cultural and gastronomical offerings of Barcelona are of the highest quality: the museums, theaters, and the great variety of restaurants will not disappoint even the most demanding visitor.
Finally, for the nightlife lover, Barcelona offers an impressing variety of nightclubs and live music for all tastes and all ages.
