Torre Alta is in between the village and the Alvor beach. So called because of the towers in which Studio 206 is situated.
Torre meaning tower and alta meaning high.
The original site of the village of Alvor dates back to roman times and has been a fishing village since then.Although there has been development in the area in recent years, the sleepy cobbled lanes of Alvor and its small, whitewashed houses seem to watch time go by. Have a wander down these lanes and tucked away, you will find many bars, shops and restaurants catering to every taste.
The Algarve occupies the extreme south-west of continental Europe. It is approximately 95 miles long and 30 miles wide, and this is about one seventeenth of the total area of Portugal, covering 2,000 square miles.
Low ranges of mountains separate the Algarve fromthe rest of Portugal to the north, whilst the Guadiana River forms the natural frontier with Spain to the East. This is the Algarves largest river, flowing for more than 500 miles from the Serra do Caldeirao and Serra do Malhao ranges down to the Atlantic Ocean at Vila Real.
The Climate is very pleasant all the year round, with more than 3000 hours of sunshine a year. July and August can be very hot, with little or no rainfall, a warm ocean and great sunbathing plus plenty of activity all around. March to june is warm, with hardly any rainfall, and and the countryside is at its best and most beautiful, a great time for walkers and sightseers. November to February is often sunny and mild time, very quiet and peaceful, but there can be erratic rainfall, and it can be a little cold at night. September and October are quite warm, but can have little rainfall, and the countryside can look a little dry and sparse.
