Sesimbra is an old quaint fishing village with narrow cobbled streets and bustling fish stalls located 30 km south of Lisbon. Nestled in the foothills of Arrabida Natural Park, this charming village ends in a blue sparkling bay facing south.Famous for its seafood gastronomy, the region has become increasingly popular with weekenders from Lisbon, looking for a quick and easy escape from the city and a scenic place to eat freshly caught fish, stroll on the promenade or relax on golden sandy beaches. However, the region is still relatively unspoilt from mass tourism and visitors will still find a fishing village at heart.
The bay of Sesimbra faces south so the golden beach is sheltered with a calm, clear blue sea, ideal for children play.
Local indoor and outdoor markets will allow you to buy fresh fruits and vegetables from the region in addition to freshly caught fish from a number of fishmongers in the village.
