Once you've researched the area it's time to start looking for a holiday home. If you've already contacted estate agents in your initial research then you've already started the ball rolling. Establishing a good rapport with them can save you a lot of time, effort and heartache.
First you can research your location before buying. You can consider visiting and getting a feel for the area you wish to buy your holiday home. Once you have done this you need to research the following in relation to your real estate purchase:1.Foreign ownership of real estate rules, 2.Property taxes, 3.Stability of country and political considerations, 4.Investment and rental potential, 5.The overall quality of life.
More and more holiday magazines are available on the local high street now. Many offer classified sections full of properties for sale. This will help you get a feel for the cost and styles of properties in your chosen area.
When house hunting abroad look around as many properties as possible, fly back and make a decision. Remember, new houses come onto the market every day so there's no need to rush.
If you haven't already visited the area, you may find that what sounds great in a guide book doesn't quite feel right for you. This is normal so just explore the surrounding areas and you should soon find an area that you like.
OK, so you've done your research, been in touch with all of the local estate agents, contacted the embassy and know all there is to know about the area. Now comes the exciting bit - house hunting.
