A week is from Friday till Friday. A long weekend is from Friday till Monday and a Midweek is from Monday till Friday. During holiday season only renting periods of 1 or more weeks. Other rental periods are possible. Please do consult us.

• Arrival during the first day between 15.00 and 18.00 0’clock. Departure on the last day before 10.00 o’clock. Other arrival and departure times might be possible, but only after consultation.

• Rates do include costs of energy and heating, towels for the kitchen, bath towels, bed clothes, if required a small bed for a baby, cost of reservation and the use of our canoe.

• Rates do not include cleaning the house after your stay. If you prefer us to do the cleaning of the house after your stay, we will charge you an amount of €50.

• A guarantee of €50 is applicable. This guarantee is used to cover the cleaning cost of the house if you prefer us to take care. It is also used to cover for cost of small damages or missing belongings of de Rietvogel. We will return the (remaining part of) guarantee after your stay.

• Reservation is only definitive after a down payment of 10% of the total rate (renting rate plus guarantee). Our bank account number is 5255390. Our bank is the Postbank (BIC / SWIFT code PSTBNL21). Our International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is NL54PSTB0005255390. Please refer to: O.C.M. Veldman, Kalenberg.

• The remaining amount should be on our bank account no later then 8 weeks before the rental period.

• Cancellation only in written. If cancelled more then 8 weeks before the rental period, a cancellation fee of 10% of the total rental amount is required, if cancelled more then 4 weeks before the rental period, a cancellation fee of 25% of the total rental amount is required. If cancelled more then 2 weeks before the rental period, a cancellation fee of 50% of the total rental amount is required, if cancelled less then 2 weeks before the rental period, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total rental amount is required.

• De Rietvogel is a smoke free holiday house. It is not allowed to take dogs and/or cats to de Rietvogel.

  • Prices are all in. So including energy costs, use of canoe, administration costs, tourist tax, towels for the kitchen, bath towels, bed clothes, if required a small bed for a baby etc. It does not include a quarentee of euro 50. If ou prefer us to do the end cleaning we also charge euro 50.

Home description

Our holiday home is situated in the middle of the National Reserve called “de Weerribben”. Nature is beautiful and close by you will find middle age towns like Vollenhove, Steenwijk and Blokzijl. Also the water town Giethoorn, the Venice of the North, is just a few miles from here. Just a few years ago, National Park “de Weerribben” was selected by the Dutch citizens as the most beautiful place of Holland and we are proud about that.

Nature is overwhelming ! We can guarantee you rest and space. Close by in the little village Paasloo, you will find a beautiful outdoor swimming pool and in Steenwijk you will find an indoor swimming pool for colder days. For daily shopping needs, Oldemarkt is just 3 miles away. This region is very popular for bikers. Miles and miles of dedicated bike paths bring you in area’s no cars can reach. But also the wide network of small canals and lakes offers your stay at “de Rietvogel” an excellent opportunity to discover the area by canoe or electric boat. By the way, the use of our canoe is included !

If you enjoy wildlife, “De Rietvogel” is the place to be. In spring you will fall a sleep with a tropical concert of a million frogs in the background, during an evening walk you will be able to hear the mysterious sound of the great bittern, a common kingfisher will suddenly fly away, you can go with the national park forester on a late night boat tour to view dears and other wildlife. “De Rietvogel” has it’s own barn owl shelter. If you are lucky the kids can explore their pellets and can find out what the owls have been eating.

You are very welcome as our guests. We do speak English and we are convinced that your stay at “De Rietvogel” will be unforgettable. Please note that it is not allowed to smoke in “De Rietvogel” and that pets are not allowed.

Kalenberg

Kalenberg is very similar to Giethoorn, the so called "Venice of the North". About 200 small farmhouses located on the border of the Kalenberger canal. All connected to each other by lots of litlle bridges. A big part of the farmhouses is not even accessable by car, only by boat !
