We can book flights from Nairobi to Lamu for you, and boat transfers can be arranged on request. These are usually payable directly in Lamu. Our friendly staff are at hand to make your stay comfortable, and to take care of your needs. We have a full time cook who will do shopping and prepare meals. He will account for food expenses and guests will settle for these directly at the house. Some items are not readily available in Shela Village, so do contact us for more information on what to bring and what can be bought locally.

  • Special Offer during low season from 15th April to 15th June 2008 @ $200 per day excluding cost of food and drinks. Boat transfers are payable direct in Lamu and are arranged for you.
  • 25% Deposit is required upon confirmation and Balance payable 30 days prior to arrival. Payment can be made by way of interbank telegraphic transfer or by credit card. Scanned copy of credit card, and scanned signed letter will be required for payment by credit card via email.

'Mnarani' means 'near the minaret' in Kiswahili. The house's unique and open design gives some lovely views of the sea and the surrounding village of Shela, and allows plenty of breeze. There are plenty of sitting areas for relaxing and lounging, including a rooftop sitting room with fridge for drinks where one can enjoy the view and watch the dhows go by, and the village life unfold. The rooms have solar hot water showers. Towels, fans, mosquito nets and bedding are provided. There is an additional single room upstairs without a bathroom.
