If you enjoy outdoor life in beautiful surroundings then a visit to Abruzzo is a must. Whether you are by the sea or in the mountains, the scenery is absolutely spectacular.

The sandy beaches in the northern part of the region contrast strongly with the rugged cliffs that make up the southern coastline. The hinterland is hilly with plenty of opportunity for trekking, and hidden in the hills are quiet little villages. Furthest to the west in Abruzzo, the stern Apennine peaks dominate the landscape.

With three National Parks in the region you can experience nature in its purest form.

A visit to Abruzzo is not only a trip through beautiful scenery but also a journey through history, from old fortified villages providing evidence of turbulent times in the past, to monasteries and churches built into the rock face and often built on top of old heathen temples. But when you are out in the superb countryside always remember that around the corner you may meet a lynx, a wolf or a bear…

Teramo

Teramo is the daughter of “Interamnia”, the city between rivers.

Laid on a low hill, hollowed out over the centuries by the flow of two rivers: the Vezzola and the Tordino. Half way between the Gran Sasso Mountain and the Adriatic Sea, the snow and the sea.

Teramo is a world to itself, aloof and discreet, aware and proud of its own individuality, but ready to open its door to everyone, a quality moulded by a long history of dominations and conquests, but which today is shown in its
trade and hospitality which welcomes visitors.

History has made an impression many times through the antiques alleys of Interamnia, leaving to the city a treasure of historic testimonies, which are worthy of further investigation.

Among the richness of the treasures there are a Roman theatre, palace and monuments, churches and a Basilica which is geographically and morally, the heart of the city.

Cellino Attanasio

The road from Cellino Attanasio to Atri makes possible to admire the famous “Calanchi”, some eroded furrows that water engraved into the clayey rocks.
Cellino Attanasio is well known for its town walls and towers.
