Cantagallina

The small hamlet of Cantagallina is situated in the beautiful province of Umbria, only 3 km from the border of southern Tuscany. There are countless attractions nearby, such as Citta della Pieve; with its floral art shows and the flower-lined streets in May. Here you can buy excellent but cheap olive oil or take boat trips to the islands where along the way you will enjoy excellent views of Castiglione del Lago, or buy excellent wines in Montepulciano, visit Etruscan graves in Chiusi or go shopping in Perugia, Deruta and Florence, just to name a few.

Castiglione del Lago will act as your main shopping centre and is one of the most beautiful medieval towns by the lake. City gates and walls dating back to the middle ages surround the picturesque old town, which includes a piazza, a fountain, and a castle. There are many restaurants to choose from and the town's exquisite shops have much to offer. There are many smaller shops, selling typical products from the region and 3 large supermarkets. There are excellent transport links from the train station where there are regular services to the main towns and cities of Italy.

Excursions to destinations in Umbria and the Tuscany are quickly reached. The information centre in Castiglione del Lago provides numerous brochures and information about the sights and events in the area.

Be sure and visit cities such as Chiusi, Paciano, Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino (Sant´Antimo, Gregorian chants) Castiglione del Lago, Passignano del Lago, Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto.

A comfortable, inexpensive train ride is all that separates you from Chiusi, Terontola, Rome, Florence or Orvieto. Buy regional goods in the village or the surrounding area.
