Badia

Badia (Italian: Badia; German: Abtei; Ladin: Badia) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. It is one of the five Ladin-speaking communities of the Badia Valley.

Badia is accessible through the Badia Valley (it. Val Badia, de. Gadertal) from St. Lorenzen (San Lorenzo di Sebato) in the Pusteria Valley (it. Val Pusteria, de. Pustertal), as well as through passes over the Dolomites such as the Valparola Pass (Passo di Valparola) and the Gardena Pass (it. Passo Gardena, de. Grödner Joch), which are only drivable during the snow-free months.
