Anglona

The area historically known as Anglona originates at the mouth of the Coghinas, rich with remarkable avifauna specimens. Its center is Castelsardo, which rises over a beautiful promontory dominated by the remains of an ancient fortress; after being called Castelgenovese and then Castelaragonese, it was then named Castelsardo in 1769 under the Savoy family. Here you can also visit the Nostra Signora de Tergu Roman Sanctuary (XIII century) once near Sardinia’s biggest monastery: near Multeddu nuraghe is also the Roccia dell’Elefante (Elephant Rock), another odd example of geologic figure resulting from atmospheric agents.
