Home description

The Tanyard is located in a central village location, yet offering a good degree of privacy. Cerne Abbas was recently voted one of the countrie's prettiest villages and is home to the famous Cerne Giant. The property dates back in part to the 17th century and offers spacious accommodation with period features. There are 4 bedrooms, with the master having its own shower and a spacious bathroom on the first floor. On the ground floor there is a stunning 32 foot drawing room with working inglenook fireplace, oak flooring and a large bay window with window seats overlooking the gardens. There is a further sitting room with woodburner and beamed ceiling. The farmhouse kitchen has an Aga and original flagstone flooring and seating for up to 10 people. Off the kitchen you will find a utility room and cloakroom. Outside the property is approached through electric gates and has parking for several cars as well as a double garage. The lawned gardens extend to just under one acre with the river Cerne running alongside. There is a patio with outdoor seating and a feature walled rose garden.

Cerne Abbas

Cerne Abbas is an historical village with many beautiful buildings, a manor house once visited by Henry VIII and a church dating back many centuries. There is a village store, tearooms and several public houses offering meals and of course the famous 180 foot Giant carved into the hillside. There are many walks from the village and the coastline is just a short drive away. In the area you will find many places to visit like Athelhampton House where Anne Boleyn stayed and one of her embroideries hangs on one of the walls, Monkey World, Tank Museum, Dinosaur Museum, Mummy Museum, Aquariums, Adventure Wonderland and many beaches, some reknown for their fossils. It is a beautiful place to visit and we are sure once you have, you will want to return again and again.
