When travelling to North Cyprus, a good place to start your journey is from the beautiful coastal village of Bogaz. Located on the East coast of the island, Bogaz is a perfect destination for a good holiday in North Cyprus.
Bogaz is a beautiful coastal village on the southern edge of the Karpas Peninsula, with half a dozen fish restaurants ranged round its harbour.
It also has very pleasant stretches of sandy beach. Further up the coast, about 5 km east, are the foundations of Strongylos Castle, a Byzantine watchtower enlarged by the Knights Templar in the 12th century.
Bogaz is well-sited as a base to explore the region. It is only a few km north of Iskele, about 25 km north of Famagusta, and on the edge of Karpas.
It also has some pleasant patches of sandy beach. The constant flow of customers to the village's restaurants also makes it an invaluable place to find a lift or taxi.

By sea there are scheduled ferry-boat services from Mersin to Gazimagusa (Famagusta) three times a week. There are daily sea-bus and ferry services from Tasucu to Girne. Services are also organised to Girne during summer months from Alanya, Antalya and Anamur.
