Home description

Vine Cottage is located in a perfect position on a hill overlooking the quaint town and harbour of Povlja. Views of the sea from the large terrace are panoramic - the perfect place to relax over dinner. The house is a two storey building with 3 air conditioned bedrooms, as well as 2 terraces and an outside BBQ grill. It ideally suits 2 families or a large group. On the ground floor there is kitchen, bathroom and large living room with separate dining area. On the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms and shower room, and in the attic is a twin bedroom. Come in the high season and indulge in the outdoor cafe and restaurant life of this quiet village, and enjoy its beaches, diving and sparkling clear waters. Or take a car or bike and explore the island with its wild countryside, its many coves and its traditional old stone villages. In May-June and Sept take in the tranquility of what is still a traditional Dalmatian fishing village.

Povlja

POVLJA (Povja), a village in the cove bearing the same name, on the north-eastern coast of the island Brac. Chief occupations are farming, growing of vines and olives, fishing and tourism. The surrounding coves (Travna, Smokvica, Ticja Luka, Tatinja, etc.) feature nice beaches. Povlja is located on the regional road.
The remains from the early Christian period include parts of a basilica (5th-6th c.), which has been partly preserved up to the roof; very prominent is the apse part with a triforium. The octagonal baptistery with a cupola (the only one preserved in Croatia) is today an integral part of the parish church; the church also features partly preserved frescoes from the same period.
