How to get there

Many airlines now fly to Sofia from the UK, including British Airways, Lufthansa, Austrian, Bulgaria Air and "No Frills" Airline, all at competative prices.

The journey from Sofia to Bansko takes around 2 hours by car, and costs are in the region of 80 euros each way.

For the more adventurous, you can hire a car but most of the road signs are in the Cyrillic alphabet, which is not easy to read! Having said that, more signs are shown in English as Bulgaria moves closer to the EU.
