Saint Philip

The Parish of St Philip

Make a holiday rental home or self catering apartment in St Philip, Barbados your home away from home .
St Philip (Saint Philip), is the south-eastern parish of Barbados in the Caribbean. Locally considered to be ‘the countryside’ of Barbados, due to its flat, cultivated plains, St Philip is the largest parish on the island, offering visitors a chance to get away from the tourist hoards.
Things to do on holiday in St Philip, Barbados
One of the most remarkable places to visit on a holiday in St Philip, Barbados, is the Sunbury Plantation, which has been fully restored to its original state, dating from 1660. Complete with Victorian antiques and horse drawn carriages, visiting the Sunbury Plantation gives you a haunting sense of what life was like in Barbados. The picturesque Ragged Point Lighthouse is well worth visiting from a self catering St Philip apartment or villa too. Sam Lord’s Castle is a dramatic sight, and visiting gives you a real since of the violent implications of the pirates which patrolled these waters.
The coastline is a delightful place to walk. Spectacular coastal views, stunning scenery and an array of exotic animals make walking the coastal paths an absolute delight, and it makes a great way to prepare for an evening of sampling the incredibly delicious local cuisine and ice cold rum punch which Barbados is famous for.
Of course, no stay in St Philip accommodation would be complete without spending a large proportion of your time bathing on the glorious, powder soft beaches which appear on many travel guides to Barbados. St Philip has some beautiful, calm beaches to enjoy, the pick of which must be The Crane beach, which is quite hard to reach, but extremely worthwhile. Long Beach is also remarkably beautiful and slightly easier to find!
St Philip is not a great destination for young families hoping to bathe and swim. The strong waves which pound this tip of St Philip attract experienced surfers from all over the world to take a rental apartment in St Philip, as the surfing is certainly the best in Barbados, and not for the feint hearted.
