Rural Holiday Homes

Rural tourism is attractive because it provides the opportunity to explore a peaceful area and enjoy the quiet beauty of the nature.

Rural tourism has become quite popular on the last years and it is a good destination for those looking to escape from massified areas and resorts.

There are many rural holiday homes, some of them offering luxury accommodation with all the facilities for the modern and smart traveller, which is looking for a place to escape and relax, and others are somewhat more agriculture oriented, perfect for those that want to try what living in community is and learn a little more about farms and its kind of life.

You can choose a holiday that mixes both relax and farmhouse-community style. The guests is here given the option to choose which of these fits more their holidays.

Next to the world famous sandy beaches or in an inland area a good and cheap (or at least affordable) option for a rural finca is awaiting and offering activities such as trekking, horse riding and mountain bike, among others. At HolidayHomes.org you can find accommodation in a small and unspoilt village.

Mallorca is not only sun, beaches and sangria, but the smart destination to escape from major cities. And rural tourism the way to find the real Mallorca. The finca Sa Torre is situated in Santa Eugenia, next to the Santa Maria villa and could be a good choice if you plan to visit Palma during your holidays, as it is only 15 minutes driving from Palma de Mallorca. This village is still really small and keeps it mallorcan character. Also, on Sunday you can visit the Santa Maria market, which in my humble opinion is one of the best to be found around the island. And by the way, is not more than 20 minutes driving from Palma.

Bulgaria, a recently discovered popular holiday destination that has become popular due to the Black Sea coastal areas and the winter ski resorts. There are, however, plenty of rural destinations that are as yet completely undiscovered. These places hold many hidden treasures, tempting for those seeking something a little bit different away from the commercialised centres.

Many villages have these hidden treasures and awaiting exploration. In the rural areas of Bulgaria you can discover the beautiful nature all year round. Located on the perfect spots the surrounding panoramic views of the towns and villages are absolutely breathtaking. Most of the holiday homes have pools and gardens for your comfort. Fabulous after a tiring hike up into the mountains.

Whilst many tourists are content with just a sunny beach and a cold beer, more and more are looking for a different experience where they can get more from their holiday, a more authentic and personal experience. Many of the significant trends in worldwide tourism point to the high potential of ‘sustainable’ or ‘alternative’ tourism. Anyone who has spent time in Bulgaria will be aware that the country has enormous fantastic natural resources with mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, stunning views and an incredibly rich history full of traditions - making Bulgaria perfect for rural tourism.

Another destination - The Costa del Sol is only a very small part of the wonderful Autonomous Region of Andalucia. Rural tourism has opened up this superb area of Southern Europe and it is now possible to rent a villa in many outstanding and remote areas hither too unexplored by the vast majority of tourists. To a large extent the countryside has been unspoilt by the recent developments along the Costas and there are still many out of the way and remote areas to explore. The white villages, or Pueblos Blancos are a good starting point as in the main life goes on in them much as it has done for centuries. Casares, Gaucin, Benaojen, Estacion de Cortes, Cortes de la Frontera, to name but a few, are all delightful places to spend a few hours ambling around, marvelling at the architecture, the slow unchanging pace of life and sampling the various tapas bars. During the summer months every village holds a tradtional feria with music and dancing in the streets all night long.

There are dozens of reasons why starting a wonderful holiday in one of France's many stunning provinces is a good idea with the country, and particularly the rural areas, offering a relaxed and relatively cheap accommodation. One of the best places to celebrate French wine is Languedoc Roussillon where every year a festival is held in honor of the booze which comes out of the region. The wine from Roussillon is a firm favourite with connoisseurs for its rich, strong flavour but the province is also famous for its Banyuls port and cheeses.
