Thought a chateau was beyond your means? Think again. There are alot of opportunities to rent a chateau and you can take a look at the listing bellow and book directly with the owner. There is however, another option that is often missed out, the growing list of chateaux that are available to rent. Please take a look at our list and contact the owner directly.
Typically, these will offer seven or eight bedrooms, ample private grounds for a stroll, or to burn off youthful energy and a standard of accommodation that makes a holiday truly memorable. The main reason people tend not to consider this option is cost, although that concern is not necessary.
Prices vary from area to area, so to achieve a true comparison. Each chateau depends on standard of accomodation, useful outside space and the ability to take a party of twelve to sixteen people. From conversations with the owners, this seems very typical and offers a fair comparison to the other options.
All prices were calulated on a peak season basis and any separately listed essentials, such as bedding, or fuel costs. were allowed for. Without doubt, the hotel option is by far the most expensive. This does suit a few people but they may not be aware how much extra they are paying. The other two options are not miles apart, providing you have a decent sized group, perhaps an extended family holiday, the difference is little more than £10 per head. Allowing for the cost and nuisance of shunting around from place to place, this may vanish anyway and there are other compensations.
The space, history and standards available on a chateau holiday are not often matched in a gite. Neither is the shared experience that makes this type of holiday stay in mind, everyone is free to pursue their own activities but the option to get together and share the enjoyment of the day does bring much to a holiday.
